Yesterday, Microsoft released its "Service Pack 1" update to its Office for Mac 2011 software. If you have Office for Mac 2011, you can get the update now by opening any of its programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), clicking on the
Help menu, and clicking
Check for Updates. Indicate that you would like to check for updates
Manually, and click to
Install the updates that appear.
What does the update get you? Well, there's the usual unexciting-yet-important fixes that improve security and performance. But apart from that, perhaps the most notable addition is the ability to sync your Outlook calendars, contacts, tasks, and notes to your iPhone or iPad via Apple's Sync Services. There are other error corrections and minor feature additions in Office's other programs as well; check out
Microsoft's full list of changes for more information.
We'd recommend that you go ahead and install this update whenever it's convenient for you to do so. Let us know if you have any questions!
